Selangor Journal: House-to-house testing after mass screenings in 56 constituencies conclude - MB

DAMANSARA, May 25 — The house-to-house Covid-19 testing will be conducted after the mass screening programme in 56 Selangor state constituencies ends on June 10.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said, however, the decision would depend on the number of workforces available as it is estimated about 60 to 70 per cent of workers are required for the initiative.

“This has yet to be discussed thoroughly but some (parties) have given their views yesterday. We will most likely initiate it as it has been done before.

“If we have enough manpower and the number of transmission increases, it would probably be held earlier than June 10,” he said when met after visiting the free Covid-19 community screening at Dewan Komuniti Bandar Utama Tiga, here today.

Amirudin said the house-to-house approach will focus on localities that have registered a high number of coronavirus cases based on the data obtained from the mass screenings.

Meanwhile, he said the state government is not too worried if there is a surge of positive Covid-19 cases as it shows a good outcome in tracing the local transmission of the infection.

“We have been able to detect the silent carriers within the community especially now there is a new variant that is spreading fast and is also fatal,” he added.

Last April, Amirudin had announced the Covid-19 big-scale testing operation to be carried out in the red zones in the state, which is the first in the country to involve house-to-house activity which aimed to screen a total of 5,000 individuals.
